Party in the Park

Saturday, September 20
4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Community Park 
The Village of Hawthorn Woods is seeking volunteers to assist with our Party in the Park event. Be part of your community and volunteer to assist with our game areas, beer tent, and ticket sales. If you have a few hours to spare, consider becoming a volunteer on Saturday, September 20th.

Buckthorn Buster Volunteer Day 

Saturday, October 4 
9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. 
Woodland Park (23 Juel Circle)
Buckthorn is an invasive plant species that threatens the health of our local ecosystems. Join the Village of Hawthorn Woods Sustainability Committee to help remove this invasive species and make a positive impact in our community! Volunteers should wear long pants (no shorts), long-sleeved shirts or sweatshirts, and hiking boots or gym shoes. If possible, bring protective eyewear and sturdy gloves. We will provide safety vests, gloves, and eyewear for those that need them. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Volunteers 12 to 15 years of age are welcome, but must attend with an adult chaperone 18 years of age or older.

Adopt-a-Highway

Saturday, October 18 
9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Village Barn (2 Lagoon Drive)
The Village of Hawthorn Woods Sustainability Committee will be hosting their Adopt-A-Highway cleanup event. Volunteers will work together to clean up litter along Old McHenry Road, between Lagoon Drive and Darlington Drive. Volunteers will meet in the parking lot of the Hawthorn Woods Village Barn at 2 Lagoon Drive. Safety vests, gloves, and trash bags will be provided. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing.
