Excellence In Gardening Award

Is your garden, yard, or landscape the envy of the neighborhood? Or do you know someone whose property is a stunning display of lush gardens, trees, or artistic sculptures? If so, don’t wait—nominate them for recognition!

The Village of Hawthorn Woods is accepting nominations for the 2025 Excellence in Gardening Award.

We take pride in our community’s natural beauty and want to share in celebrating our environmental efforts with residents who enhance their properties with vibrant gardens, trees, water features, sculptures, or other hardscapes that integrate with the natural environment, contributing to both sustainability and aesthetic charm.

CLICK HERE for forms to nominate a garden today! Nominees must reside within the municipal limits of the Village of Hawthorn Woods. Photos are encouraged with submissions, but are not required. See contest rules for full details.

Gardens are judged on design, maintenance, originality, color, plant diversity, and contributions to the environment. A previous award-winning garden is pictured here.

All nominations will be reviewed by the Hawthorn Woods in Bloom Committee, which will select three finalists each month. Committee members will visit the finalist gardens and select a winner based on design, maintenance, originality, color, plant diversity, and environmental contributions.
