The State of Illinois has released guidance on celebrating Halloween during the COVID-19 global pandemic. A copy of Halloween guidelines issued by the State of Illinois, including neighborhood trick-or-treating, can be found by clicking here.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) outlines risks for certain Halloween activities, including door to door exposure risk. A copy of CDC guidelines can be found by clicking here.
Unless contrary municipal guidance is distributed from the Governor’s Office, the Village’s Halloween trick or treat hours will be October 31, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. for those who choose to participate.
The Village recognizes that person to person trick or treating at doors will be an individual decision made by each household, and therefore will not be endorsing exposure activities. For those families that plan to participate in door to door activities, please turn on your porch light or coach light to welcome trick or treaters to your door. For those residents not wanting in-person visitors, please do not turn on your outside lights, letting others know that you will not be participating.
Please note: All municipalities are to follow the Restore Illinois Phase 4 guidelines, including but not limited to, social distancing, wearing face coverings and staying in family household groups. Please remember that groups of 50 people or more are still not allowed under Phase 4 guidelines.
Please continue to monitor the Village’s website, newsletters, and Facebook page for the most up-to-date information on this matter.
