Functions:
The Police and Public Safety Committee is responsible for developing a long range vision for public safety in the Village and outline/recommend related pubic safety goals and standards for the community to the Village Board. They are responsible for reviewing ordinances which regulate traffic, including, but not limited to, speed, parking, sign placement and vehicle weight restrictions. Additionally, they review ordinances that regulate residential security systems, animals and obstructions in the public right of ways.

The Police and Public Safety Committee evaluate capital equipment and facility related requests made by the police department and whether they address the community’s public safety needs.

Membership: Five members, appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Village Board.

Members of the Police and Public Safety Committee shall be residents of the Village. One member of the Board of Trustees shall be appointed as a member of the Police and Public Safety Committee.

Compensation: None

Term: All members shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and Board of Trustees as there are no set term limits.

Meetings: First Monday of every other month, beginning with January, at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Hall, 2 Lagoon Drive

Additional Information: The Police and Public Safety Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Village Board.
