Basic Horsemanship
Youths and adults can learn basic safety and care elements for horses. Program fee includes a group workshop held off the horse, PLUS a private riding lesson to be scheduled for a later date, all held at Millennium Farm (21989 W. Hawley St., Mundelein). The group workshop for introductory riders will teach our new riders the basics of:
  • Safety in the barn and around the horse
  • How to halter the horse
  • How to properly and safely remove the horse from the stall
  • Grooming
  • General anatomy of the horse
  • Equipment (such as the saddle and bridle)
  • Hygiene - We will give a horse a bath!
