With the population of Hawthorn Woods expected to exceed 10,000 in the next few years, community development is a top priority for the Village. There are three principal areas for development including the parcel of land at Route 12 and Old McHenry Road; the Midlothian Corridor; and the Northern Retail Area.
ROUTE 12 and OLD McHENRY ROAD
The Route 12 and Old McHenry site is a 118 acre site planned for mixed use development including approximately 30 to 40 acres of retail.
MIDLOTHIAN CORRIDOR
The Midlothian Corridor is a 2.5 mile state highway that will serve as the corridor for downtown Hawthorn Woods with approximately 288 acres of prime, undeveloped land available and a variety of zoning including retail, office and residential. The Village continues to facilitate planning in the Midlothian Corridor emphasizing different potential uses including a Town Center, restaurant and entertainment venues and other mixed use developments.
