III.             TREE ORDINANCE

Trustee Riess stated that Village Attorney Robin Jones is still reviewing the possibility of enacting an ordinance allowing the Village to conduct inspections for the Emerald Ash Borer and other destructive insects.  Mr. Dixon once again stressed the importance of passing such ordinance as soon as possible.  Mr. Dixon said Mr. Burglund made a proposal of $750 per inspection to conduct a driving inspection of all Village trees.  Mr. Burglund suggested two inspections per year.

Mr. Pearlman arrived at 7:45 p.m.

Ms. Felice questioned holding inspections in January and February.  The Committee decided it would be better to conduct inspections in spring and fall.

A motion was made by Mr. Schweitzer to retain Mr. Richard Burglund to conduct two inspections during FY 05 at a cost of $750 per inspections.  Seconded by Mr. Dixon.  On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.

Trustee Riess stated that the Village is considering adopting a landscape ordinance for new developments.  There would be cooperative sessions between Plan Commission and the Environmental Committee to work on establishing landscape plans when property is going to be developed.  Mr. Bickley stated the Village of Fort Sheridan has a landscape ordinance and he would obtain a copy for our review.
